2016 Local Government Elections
The Nketoana Local Municipality has 18 seats. There were 30,559 registered voters in the 2016 local government elections. The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 6 with 58.98 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 4 with 45.88 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2016 municipal elections was 54.25 %.
Following the 2016 local government elections, two political parties are represented in the Council. The African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 13 seats. The Democratic Alliance holds 3 seats and the Economic Freedom Fighters and the Freedom Front Plus each has 1 seat.
2011 Local Government Elections
The Nketoana Local Municipality has 18 seats. The total number of registered voters for the 2011 local government elections on the voters roll was 28,978. The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 6 with 58.66 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 4 with 47.40 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2011 municipal elections was 54.25 %.
Following the 2011 local government elections, four political parties are represented in the municipality. The African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 14 seats. The Democratic Alliance holds 2 seats and the Freedom Front Plus and African People’s Convention each obtained one seat.
